What is The Washing?
“The Washing” is a bible reading/prayer marathon event.  Over the course of the event the bible will be openly read from cover to cover while continual prayer is offered up for our churches, communities, city, and more.  We believe “The Washing” will impact the spiritual climate over Spokane bringing about a new season of fruitfulness and unity for God-ordained ministries throughout the city.

While “The Washing” is an event, the opportunity it presents is far greater. The bible records many instances where destiny invades reality, such as when Christ was born – “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman…” (Galatians 4:4, RSV).  We believe the “fullness of time” has come for Spokane!  A new season, conceived in the womb of intercessors for generations, can be birthed through the washing of repentance and obedience.  The journey to revival begins with repentance, and “The Washing” beckons us to her doorstep.  If we open this door and go in, we will find ourselves in the house of holiness, prepared for us through the prayers of the saints and the finished work of the cross.   Each step is a step of transformation, of agreement with our holy Father, and of surrender to become like His Son Jesus.  When holiness characterizes us, love and power will be unleashed to the world as we have never seen.  Let us, then, pursue the cleansing of our souls as Christ, our Beloved, washes us with the water of the word.

“That He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word.” – Ephesians 5:26

Why is The Washing Happening Now?

October 31st is Reformation Day.  Reformation Day commemorates the day Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the All Saints’ Church in Wittenberg, Germany, thus beginning the protestant reformation.  The year? 1517.  So, this year marks the 500th anniversary!

To celebrate this anniversary, the Spokane Fatherhood Initiative (SpoFI) and 10:31 Ministries are sponsoring The Washing – Reformation 2017!  This will be a similar event to the very successful one held earlier in May for The National Day of Prayer.

When and Where Will It Be?

The Washing – Reformation 2017 will be hosted by:

New Covenant Fellowship
5109 N Adams St.
Spokane, WA

The event will begin at 6:30 pm Friday, October 27, with a Prayer and Proclamation Rally.  This rally will kick off the event with prayer, worship, and the corporate reading of Genesis 1.  At 8 pm, the prayer and reading begins! The event will conclude on Tuesday, October 31, the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.

Churches, church groups (such as a prayer team or home group), and ministries from all over the city have the opportunity to reserve at least one Session – a two-hour time slot – during which 3 to 8 participants will proclaim the Word of God by reading scriptures out loud in consecutive order. While one person is reading, the others will pray. After approximately 15 minutes, the reader will pass the baton to the next reader and join the prayer group. In this fashion, reading and prayer will arise continuously for nearly four days!

This prayer and declaration of the Word will be a testimony of the lordship of Jesus over Spokane and a cry from the Bride to the Bridegroom to wash and cleanse her.

How Can I Get Involved?

The degree of impact “The Washing” will have is proportional to the degree of prayer from us all.  Please pray, beginning now, that Father’s heart will be revealed in us and through us to our city.

Each participating church or ministry will reserve one or more Sessions and put together a team of 3 – 8 readers.  Registration can be done here.

Join Us By Being:
1. Readers – readers will proclaim God’s Word out loud – and outside – and pray during their Session.

  1. Session Leaders – a Session Leader oversees readers of their group during their Session. They ensure each successive reader is ready for their turn, and then they help lead the team prayer during each reader’s timeslot.
  2. Watch Leaders – a Watch Leader oversees a six-hour timeslot of three Sessions. The Watch Leader’s primary focus is to ensure the event runs smoothly, especially during Session transitions.
