Since 2018, SpoFI has issued 810 certificates of completion from our evidence-based 24/7 Dad® programs. Many fathers advance through multiple training levels, demonstrating deep commitment and growth. Program evaluations show measurable gains in fathering skills, communication, and relationship health—with regular father-child reunifications—and we’re now expanding this impact with North Idaho partners so more dads on both sides of the border can thrive.
“I thought being a dad was about keeping the lights on,”
…shares Eric Davis, program completion recipient.
“Now I know it’s about being emotionally present and deeply involved in my children’s lives.”
Samuel Han reflects on lessons in discipline & patience:
“I try to take more time to think before acting on my emotions. It’s making me a better dad, and it’s helping me at work too.“
Graduate Samuel Han and his two sons beam with pride alongside instructor Ron Hauenstein
Graduate Jordan Brown shares an emotional embrace with SpoFI instructor Fred Dent during graduation ceremonies after completing the 24-7 Dad® Basic program
Jordan Brown captures the personal growth aspect:
“I’ve always been determined to believe in myself, and to try my best…but this program has inspired me to keep working on myself, regardless of any outcome – I work on myself because I’m worth working on.”
This transformation happens because of supporters like you who believe fathers can change, families can heal, and communities can flourish.
Why Our Region Needs This Work
Spokane faces urgent challenges—child abuse/neglect rates 53% above the state average, higher domestic-violence incidence, and nearly 1 in 4 children growing up without consistent father involvement. Across the border in North Idaho, partners report similar pressures, which is why we’re building a coordinated Spokane–North Idaho response.
Dozens of father–child reunifications—often after years apart—show that investing in dads creates ripple effects for kids, co-parents, and entire communities.

As Matthew Mellott explains:
“I didn’t know fathering skills were a thing. I just assumed being a dad was being a dad, but it’s a very specific set of skills that have to be learned and practiced.”
Big thumbs-up from graduate Matt Mellott, whose words about faith and fatherhood inspired the whole class.
Two proud sons join dad Toren Pierson for a family moment as they accept his 24/7 Dad certificate.
Toren Pierson recounts ‘Skills I Learned: Fathering skills I have learned as result of participating in this group are:’
“1. Prioritize my time 2. Value my kids mom as she does me 3. Helping my boys grow in life 4. Being open and willing to change 5. Discipline is to guide not punish.”
Anthony Evans shares his perspective:
“Total acceptance of my situation and the strength and clarity gained from it. The camaraderie and shared situations and brotherly support also legal knowledge shared through our ongoing battles to see our children and be a part of their lives.”
