Why this work matters now

The challenge is real: Kids without dads. Broken, fragile families. Overburdened communities. Spokane County’s child abuse and neglect rates exceed state averages, and father absence affects nearly one in four children in our region.

But so are the solutions. When fathers develop character and resilience, learn family relationship skills, and connect to community, the ripple effects transform entire families.

The impact is generational: Healthy, flourishing families create changed generational cycles and vibrant, thriving communities.

Our approach: engaging fathers where they are

Meet SpoFI’s mission

Engaged, equipped dads. We help fathers develop essential character traits like commitment, emotional resiliency, gratitude, and honor that equip them to build positive, enduring relationships with their children.

Strong, united families. We offer families the training, support, and services they need so more children can be raised by their biological parents in the same household.

Secure, healthy kids. We teach young people relationship skills and help them understand the social, emotional, and financial realities of parenthood so strong parenting habits pass from generation to generation.

Why fathers choose SpoFI programs

Beyond the statistics lies something deeper—fathers finding hope, gaining practical tools, and discovering they’re not alone in wanting to be better dads.

“I thought being a dad was about keeping the lights on,” shares Eric Davis. “Now I know it’s about being emotionally present and deeply involved in my children’s lives.”

The 24-7 Dad curriculum, developed by the National Fatherhood Initiative, addresses real challenges fathers face: managing anger, improving communication, understanding child development, navigating co-parenting relationships, and building emotional connections with children.

Classes meet twice weekly for 12 weeks, accommodating work schedules with morning and evening options. Graduates often continue with advanced training, specialized programs like Anger Free Dad, or ongoing support through Dad2Dad process groups.

The Spokane connection

It’s fitting that transformative fatherhood work happens here in Spokane—the birthplace of Father’s Day. Since 1910, our community has recognized fathers’ vital importance. Today, SpoFI continues that legacy by ensuring every father has access to tools, training, and encouragement needed to succeed.

From our offices at 711 E 3rd Ave, SpoFI serves fathers throughout the region with classes, support services, family law navigation assistance, and reentry support for formerly incarcerated men working to rebuild family relationships.

Your impact multiplies

When fathers change, everything changes.

Research consistently shows that children with involved fathers experience better academic performance, reduced behavioral problems, higher self-esteem, decreased risk of abuse and neglect, and improved emotional regulation.

Your support creates transformation that extends beyond individual fathers to children, co-parents, extended families, and entire communities. One father’s growth becomes a child’s security, a family’s stability, and a community’s strength.

Join the transformation

Fathers are waiting. Right now, men across Spokane are searching for support, tools, and encouragement to become the dads their children need.

Families are hoping. Children who’ve experienced father absence, relationship conflict, or family breakdown are hoping for healing and connection.

Communities are ready. Spokane’s strength depends on strong families, and strong families begin with engaged, equipped fathers.
