Giving Tuesday Team Captain Guide

Remember: “A gift of $37.50 provides one hour of transformative fatherhood training in our community. When you make this a monthly commitment, your $37.50 monthly gift sponsors 25% of a father’s complete 24-7 Dad program over the course of a year. Want to make an even bigger impact? A monthly gift of $150 fully funds one father’s entire journey through the 24-7 Dad curriculum each year, transforming not just his life but his children’s future.”

Executive summary

SpoFI is launching a peer-to-peer fundraising campaign for Giving Tuesday 2024 with a goal of raising $20,000 through four community teams: Staff, Board, Teachers, and Volunteer/Donor. The campaign will leverage our Givebutter platform and multi-channel outreach to expand our donor base, increase recurring gifts, and strengthen community connections.

Background

  • SpoFI has an immediate funding need to support year-end programming
  • Previous campaigns have relied primarily on direct appeals
  • Current donor base is engaged but limited in size
  • Givebutter platform offers untapped peer-to-peer capabilities
  • Community members have expressed interest in more active fundraising roles

Problem Statement

We need to expand our donor base and increase recurring donations while building stronger community connections among our stakeholders. Traditional fundraising methods haven’t fully utilized our community’s networks and storytelling potential.

Welcome & Campaign Overview

What is Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday (December 3, 2024) is a Global Day of Generosity following Thanksgiving, perfectly aligned with SpoFI’s mission. Every $37.50 donated provides one full hour of transformative fatherhood training. This Global Day of Giving is a powerful opportunity to help more fathers become the parents their children need.

Campaign mission

Supporting SpoFI’s work in restoring the value of fatherhood: expand our donor base, increase recurring gifts, and strengthen community connections.

Goal breakdown

  • Overall target: $20,000
  • Each team goal: $5,000
  • Individual fundraiser target (assumes 3-4 /team): $1,350 (helps 3 fathers make it through 24-7 Basic)
  • Our focus should be recurring donations. Monthly $37.50 at a minimum
  • Impact metrics: $37.50 = 1 hour of father training

Key messaging points

  1. Lead with transformation stories: See examples below, and check out the Impact Quotes Library
  2. Emphasize ripple effect in community
  3. Connect to broader social impact
