Creating Hope: A Father’s Workshop on Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention

Building Strength Through Vulnerability

As fathers, we’re often expected to be the pillars of strength in our families. We fix problems, provide security, and stay steady when storms come. But what happens when the storms are inside us? When we’re struggling with thoughts and feelings that seem impossible to share?

We believe that true strength includes knowing when to reach out for support. That’s why we’ve created a special workshop focused on mental health and suicide prevention—specifically designed for the unique challenges fathers face.

Join Us for “Creating Hope and Awareness to Prevent Suicide”

This April, we’re bringing together fathers from across our SpoFI community for an important conversation about mental wellness, resilience, and how we can support one another through difficult times.

Workshop Details:

Saturday, April 5, 2025
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
SpoFI Offices (711 E Third Ave, Spokane)

Why This Matters for Dads

The statistics tell a sobering story: men are far less likely to seek help for mental health challenges, yet are at significantly higher risk for suicide. As fathers, the impact of our mental well-being extends beyond ourselves—it shapes how our children understand and manage their own emotional health.

“I never talked about feelings with my dad,” shared one of our SpoFI brothers recently. “So when I started feeling overwhelmed as a father myself, I had no blueprint for handling it. Learning to open up has changed everything—not just for me, but for my kids. They’re learning it’s okay to ask for help.”

A Brotherhood of Support

What makes this workshop different is the brotherhood that already exists among SpoFI dads. This isn’t a clinical seminar with strangers—it’s a gathering of men who understand the unique pressures of fatherhood and who share a commitment to being the best dads possible.

Our facilitators bring both professional expertise and personal insight to create a space where real conversations can happen. You’ll leave with stronger connections, and renewed hope.

Being the Fathers Our Children Need

When we model healthy ways of managing life’s challenges, we give our children permission to do the same. This may be one of the most important gifts we can offer the next generation—the understanding that strength includes vulnerability, and that no one needs to face their darkest moments alone.

We hope you’ll join us for this important conversation.
