Know a dad who's done the work and shows up for his kids? Nominate him for one of SpoFI's highest honors.
Nominations must be submitted in writing to SpoFI President Ron Hauenstein or online below.
Nominations submittal deadline — June 1, 2026
Nominations may be made by:
- SpoFI Board and Advisory Board Members
- 24-7 Dad® Alumni
- current and past Dad2Dad group members, and
- 24-7 Dad® Class Facilitators, Co-Facilitators, and Observers.
The Final Selection Committee will be comprised of at least three members appointed by the SpoFI President. Committee members remain confidential until after the recipients are publicly announced.
Two awards are given each year
- Custodial Father of the Year — the nominee’s child(ren) live with him
- Non-Custodial Father of the Year — the nominee’s child(ren) do not live with him (for any reason, including voluntary or mutual consent between biological parents)
Required Criteria for SpoFI Father of the Year
To be eligible, a nominee must meet all of the following:
24-7 Dad® Graduate (Basic AM or Advanced PM) — eligible classes:
- Basic (AM): Class of Nov 2022 (Graduated December 2024) — 18 months or earlier, OR
- Advanced (PM): Class of April 2023 (Graduated May 2025) — 12 months or earlier, OR
- Dad2Dad graduate
In addition, nominees must be:
- Showing significant progress as a dad since graduation
- Clean and sober
- Living in a stable environment
- Self-supporting
- Actively involved in raising his own child(ren) or stepchild(ren)
- A first-time SpoFI Father of the Year recipient (previous recipients are not eligible)

DCYF case closed or no DCYF involvement
Active in church / attends regularly
Community involvement
Continued 24-7 Dad® Alumni participation
Ongoing involvement with SpoFI
