Creating new family traditions
This weekend, the halls of SpoFI’s headquarters transformed into a magical Christmas wonderland as fathers and their children gathered for our first-ever SpoFI Family Christmas Celebration. The event, organized by our dedicated alumni, created lasting memories and strengthened the bonds that make our community special.
“Part of being a parent is making lasting, positive memories with your kids,” reflected Fred Dent, SpoFI Vice President, who delighted families with animated readings of beloved Christmas stories. “I think we made a lot of memories this afternoon that will last a long time.”
A community coming together
The celebration brought together graduates from our 24-7 Dad programs and their families for an afternoon of festive activities. Children’s eyes lit up as they decorated Christmas cookies, sang along with period-dressed carolers, and received special gifts from Santa himself. The joy was palpable as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer made a surprise appearance, leading impromptu dance sessions that had everyone laughing and moving.
Capturing precious moments
Professional photographer MaryBeth Bryant captured the magic of the day, documenting precious moments between fathers and their children. Her stunning images reflect the deep connections being built and strengthened through SpoFI’s programs and community events.
Alumni leadership in action
What made this event particularly special was seeing our SpoFI alumni step into leadership roles, organizing and executing every detail with care and enthusiasm. Their dedication to creating this experience for newer program participants demonstrates how the impact of our fatherhood training extends far beyond the classroom.
“It’s amazing what we can accomplish together as a band of brothers,” shared Greg Naker, one of the organizers and SpoFI facilitator. “You all showed it by giving selflessly to fill SpoFI with joy!”
Looking forward: building stronger families
As we look toward 2025, this successful celebration sets the foundation for a new SpoFI tradition – one that brings families together and reinforces the vital role fathers play in creating magical moments in their children’s lives.
